Story
A idyllic, small, self-sufficient community. On the surface, it seems like the perfect neighborhood. Everything you could possibly need is within walking distance. But...the pastoral exterior conceals a dark past and an even darker secret. As a group of individuals-each with their own ties and agendas with the town and each other-converges on the enclave, strange things begin to happen. Very strange things. Strange enough to test- and then break-the very fabric of reality itself.

Lionsgate releases street date and DVD art for Psychic Experiment!
Here we go. Sorry it took this long to put this up over here, (that sounds kinda familiar, doesn't it?). At any rate, PSYCHIC EXPERIMENT now has a street date of 12/6/11! Click here for the news straight from Fangoria!
There's also a brand-spanking new trailer (red band, at that) available as part of the story from DreadCentral.com! Click here for that story. The trailer still gives us chills. Crazy to hear that trailer voice on there and see our production company logos alongside the Lionsgate one.

Walking Distance name change...and distribution through Lionsgate!
Here we go. Sorry it took this long to put this up over here, o DISTANCE faithful. At any rate, WALKING DISTANCE is now called PSYCHIC EXPERIMENT and Lionsgate will be handling our distribution! Click here for the news straight from Fangoria!
As you can guess, we are extremely happy with the situation. We have to keep pinching ourselves to see if we're dreaming. To expound a little, and add a few things that aren't in the Fango article: the PSYCHIC EXPERIMENT release will be a 94 minute edit (still done by Mel House as editor) as opposed to the original 118 minute running time of the DISTANCE cut. There has been talk of releasing the original "director's cut" down the line, but it's not set in stone. If and when that does happen, we're not sure if it will retain the original title, or still be PSYCHIC EXPERIMENT - that's all stuff we'll be hammering out over the next few weeks. We're trying to make the release(s) as definitive as possible, however, so look for lots of cool extras. One thing that we are pretty sure of is that the former foreign title (EXPERIMENTAL ACTIVITY) is a thing of the past.
So, in summation...Lionsgate. Wow.

Walking Distance screenings, reviews, awards...and distribution!
Lots has happened, as you can see. This fall, DISTANCE screened at several festivals: Hallowscreen in Sarasota FL, Vermont International Film Festival, Blood Bath 2 in Dallas, and the South African Horrorfest. The South Africa screening was our International Premiere, and we walked away with the award for "Best Special Effects"! We were up against some stiff competition, so we're very proud to have won.
We've also gotten several more reviews in the last few months - all of them pretty damn good. Check out the press aggregation page here on the Upstart Filmworks website where we've collected all the links for you.
And did we mention something about distribution? The short answer is: yes, we have it. For the long answer, keep your eyes on Fangoria.com tomorrow (Monday, the 22nd). We'll see you then. Get ready to celebrate by melting someone and shooting them into space.

Walking Distance WORLD PREMIERE at DIFF!
We are very pleased to announce that WALKING DISTANCE will have its World Premiere on Thursday night, April 15, as part of the Dallas International Film Festival's Special Screenings program. It's a great honor - this is a giant, first-class, star-studded, red-carpet festival. We are VERY excited.
